#1. RARE 20th c. Celluloid owl button, back marked HOBE BUTTON CO NY. The Hobé jewelry company began in Paris in 1887 with Jacques Hobé, a master jeweler who used precious metals and gems. In the 1920s, Jacques's son William came to NYC and founded the Hobé Button Co. first and then a costume jewelry business called Hobé Cie Ltd. William Hobé was hired to costume Flo Ziegfeld's Broadway productions during the 1920s. NBS Large ( 1 3/4”)
